What to Wear to Phuket Beach Clubs (Daybeds to Sunset Dinner)

For a Phuket beach club, dress for the part of the day you booked, then check that club's own entry rules. A swimsuit and an easy outfit might suit a pool-bed afternoon; dinner calls for something you can comfortably sit and eat in. But don't assume every venue treats a sarong and flip-flops as an acceptable arrival outfit. Some are much stricter.

First, check the venue—not a general Phuket dress code

“Beach club” covers a lot here: a pool bed, a long lunch, a sunset table, or a music event. The same venue can have different bookings for each. Before you pack an outfit, look at the page for the actual place and event you're going to:

  • YONA Beach Club's dress-code page is unusually specific. It asks for smart-casual or elegant clothes on entry and lists sarongs, sandals and cross-body bags among items it doesn't allow. It has a separate swimwear policy for the pool.
  • Catch Beach Club on Bang Tao has day-pass, dining and after-dark options. Check the details of the one you've booked; we haven't found a published dress-code list on its site to quote here.
  • Café del Mar Phuket in Kamala describes both poolside lounging and dinner. Its venue page is a good starting point for bookings and contact details, not a reason to assume a particular outfit is permitted.
  • Carpe Diem on Bang Tao offers beach beds and restaurant tables, with booking details on its own site. Ask the venue about a particular event if the dress rules aren't stated.

YONA is the reminder to read the small print: what you can wear while swimming is not automatically what you can wear to board. Rules can change, so use the linked venue pages again before you leave.

For a daybed: keep the outfit easy to change out of

If your booking is for swimming and lounging, start with swimwear you actually want to spend the afternoon in. Add a separate, dry outfit for lunch and the trip there and back. A short dress is simpler than managing a long hem beside a wet pool deck. Our Kata Tiered Mini Dress is one option for that part of the day; the Karon Multiway Romper gives you shorts when you're getting in and out of a car or moving around. Neither piece is swimwear, and neither is a promise of entry at a venue with a strict code.

Pack a pouch for the wet swimsuit, sun protection and one dry layer. It's a small detail, but it beats discovering that your “dinner outfit” has spent the afternoon folded against a damp towel.

For lunch that turns into sunset

When you know you won't be swimming—or you can change after—the easiest plan is one outfit that feels right at a table as well as outside. The Railay Halter Maxi Dress has an adjustable neck tie and a full skirt; it makes more sense for a slow lunch and sunset than for scrambling around a pool. If you want a more dressed-up evening look, the Surin Keyhole Maxi Dress has a keyhole front and side slit.

Think about the route, too. A long hem and sand are lovely in a photo, less lovely if you need to walk far over wet paving. Bring a light layer if you'll be cold indoors, and choose shoes you can walk in. For YONA in particular, check its footwear list before deciding what to wear; “beach club” doesn't mean all sandals are fine.

The useful five-minute check before you go

  1. Confirm whether your booking is a daybed, restaurant table or event ticket.
  2. Read that venue's current entry and bag rules, especially if you plan to swim.
  3. Set aside a dry outfit for eating or leaving after the pool.
  4. Check the weather and the walk from your drop-off point.
  5. If a rule isn't clear, message the venue with a photo of the outfit or shoes.

That's really the answer: dress for your booking, not for an imagined universal Phuket beach-club code. You'll feel more at ease, and you won't have to improvise at the entrance.
